Our client is a global professional services firm that provides the most accomplished operational support in the world. their disciplines include training and advising, and world-wide mission support for language and culture, emerging markets, stability and reconstruction, specialized mission, and expeditionary operations.
They are currently seeking Pashto / Urdu Linguists to work alongside the US Army in Germany.
The successful candidate will provide operational contract linguist support to U.S. Army operations in Germany.
You will conduct accurate translations of audio language material and documents in hard copy and electronic formats in a manner that maintains the integrity of the material.
You will write clear and concise grammar and pronunciation in the specific foreign language as well as in English.
You will provide accurate and idiomatic translations of non-technical material using correct syntax and expression from and to the specific foreign language in English.
You will provide written translation of general and technical material into and from the specific foreign language in English and will quickly scan and process a large amount of material in the specific foreign language for critical and essential elements of information defined by the government.
Finally you will provide input to Government counterparts in the production of written reports developed from target material utilizing the specific foreign language, such as provide a gist, summary, transcript or written translation of the material.

Knowledge and Skills:
To be considered for this role you must be a US citizen or a Green Card Holder. Ideally you should possess a current FINAL SECRET security clearance and must have the ability to obtain a TOP SECRET security clearance with access to Specialized Compartmented Information (TS/SCI). You must be willing to take and pass a counterintelligence (CI) polygraph.
You should have previous Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) experience, preferably with duty as a Transcriber.
Desirable although not essential is extensive subject matter expertise (SME) of the content being processed, i.e. some sort of military science background, training or experience is needed to transcribe military communications, a thorough knowledge of the cultural, geopolitical, and economic issues of the source country and region involved.You should have technical automated information system skills, such as word processing and data entry, to be used in conjunction with written translations, as well as the ability to use advanced language software programs.
You must be proficient in Pashto and Urdu (3/3 or higher language proficiency rating) in all aspects i.e. reading, writing, listening and speaking. You must have excellent verbal and written American English language capabilities (grammar, vocabulary, idioms, spelling) because linguist work products are prepared in both languages and possess the ability to read and translate handwritten material.
