Job Description:

CREATE-NET is seeking a well-motivated Software Developer in the area of software development for the Internet of Things (IoT). This position requires a good hands-on experience in the design and implementation of Linux-based applications on resource constrained devices (such as, for example, the RaspberryPI) and web applications to be deployed in the cloud. In particular, the work to be done is at the edge of research and industrial development, in the context of a European research and innovation project for the realization of an IoT platform focusing on the development of an IoT gateway based on an open hardware and software approach.

Main duties of the candidate will be the development and integration of an innovative middleware for IoT gateways leveraging on well-known open source components and standards in this field, and their integration with cloud distributed components, interacting with the research and development team of CREATE-NET and with industrial partners.

The position requires at least 5 years industrial (or equivalent) experience in the design and implementation of embedded and distributed applications.

Job Requirements:

Technical skills: 

-          Expertise in Linux OS (especially Ubuntu): usage, configuration, software packaging, new module installation, device driver installation/configuration. Experience in Linux OS on constrained devices is considered a plus.

-          Good experience in Java software development and Java OSGI.

-          Good experience with JavaScript and Node.JS.

-          Knowledge and experience with network programming (Sockets, REST APIs, etc.). Experience in M2M protocols (MQTT, CoAP, etc.) is considered a plus.

-          Experience in working with Open Source projects using GitHub (creating/forking/committing to a project, etc.)

-          Applicants need also have a proved experience in web and distributed applications software development.

-          Agile practices knowledge.

Organization skills: 

-          Technical project management expertise

-          Good communication skills (both oral/written);

-          Autonomous thinking and problem solving skills;

-          Prioritization, time management skills and capability to adapt to dynamic environments;

-          Hands-on software development with other collaborators;

-          Minimum 5 years information technology experience.
