Job Description:

Within the Alchemy project, one of the largest biotechnology programs ever co-financed by Portugal 2020, Amyris Bio Products Portugal, Unipessoal, Lda, a fully owned subsidiary of Amyris, Inc. has initiated the present employee recruitment process jointly with UCP Porto (Universidade Católica Portuguesa - Porto), for purposes of building a team.
 
The Computational Biologist, that Amyris Bio Products Portugal is looking for should have:
  • A masters or higher degree in quantitative discipline such as computer science, mathematics, computational biology, electrical engineering, bioengineering;
  • Fluent in statistics, biology, and computer science;  Experience building scientific applications in Python, Java or R (or equivalent);
  • Creativity, independent thinking, and passion;
  • Candidate is expected to have strong communication skills in English. Non-EU/EEA nationals must have or obtain a Portuguese residence permit compatible with full-time employment.
 Any national, foreign and stateless candidate(s) with the following profile can apply to this announcement.
 
Preferential factors. Have experience in:
  • Working with statistics, biology, and computer science;
  • Working with machine or statistical Learning;
  • Building software in an industrial setting;
  • In a microbiology or synthetic biology setting;
 
Nice to haves, experience:
  • Working on large projects with multiple contributors, automated software tests, distributed VCS, and continuous integration;
  • Working with functional programming;
  • Using relational databases as a data store for a software product;
  • Working with Unix based operating systems.
 
The Alchemy project is co-finance by Portugal 2020 under the Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalization through the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER).

Salary Benefits:

Gross monthly remuneration to be paid is 3.100 euros, plus meal allowance. To these amounts are added annual holiday and Christmas allowances
