**Purpose Of Role** The role holder can be responsible for providing effective support of large projects and leadership of big projects, dealing with all relevant issues, often without the guidance of the manager. He/she provides support/leadership in the formulation of network, technology, systems and information strategy and evolution plans. The role holder can also be responsible for supporting real time operational systems providing leadership and guidance on resolving complex technical issues owning operational processes and ensuring support is provided to meet service level standards. The role holder may also play a key part in the BT wide professional communities. **Key** **Responsibilities** To work on technical projects/operational support tasks for their managers or sponsors independently with minimal guidance. This may involve working alone or as part of a wider project/support team, managing specific tasks. To provide analytical and innovative input to projects/operational issues as well as support negotiations. May involve managing project teams involved in the delivery of specific tasks associated with ICT based business transformation programmes, strategic projects and change initiatives within time, cost and quality parameters. To lead the development and implementation and ongoing management of policies and procedures. To work with internal, external and third party suppliers. To act as a key contributor and provide expert advice to other groups on technical and operational issues. To produce cost/timescale solutions/options and manage expectations as appropriate with customer or Business Unit/LoB teams. To personally participate in and contribute to BT wide professional community activities where applicable e.g. knowledge sharing, best practice within BT and external industry. **Authority/Decision Making** Works under broad direction. Provide technical expertise for complex Networking & datacenter environments Lead scalation for complex issues. **Qualifications** Likely to have relevant, contemporary and industry recognised qualifications appropriate to the specific function Likely to have a degree qualification (engineering/science) or has served a technical apprenticeship and/or obtained NVQ and/or further education technical qualifications (i.e. HND). Relevant professional experience. CCIE or CCNP certifications. **Skills/Experience** Experienced and fully competent in own area. Acts as a key contributor in a complex/critical environment. Has depth of expertise in more than one area. Applies knowledge/skills to a range of activities. Acts as a source of technical expertise to others in own area. Interprets client needs, assessing the full requirements, identifying solutions to standard and non-standard tasks/queries and offering assistance even when not asked. Interprets internal/external business issues and recommended best practice in own discipline and makes changes to own and others work to meet these. Provides technical expertise for CISCO networking and datacenter solutions (i.e: CISCO ACI). Technical expertise in network balance like F5.
