A market leading electromechanical components manufacturer within the automotive and rail industries has recently made significant investments into its UK and European manufacturing sites to facilitate the next stage of its expansion plans and is now seeking a Managing Director based in Stockport to join the team. The company has a rich heritage, having been established in the UK for over 90 years. It designs, manufactures and distributes their products to customers globally from their UK Head Office in Manchester. As the Managing Director, your duties will be to: Effectively manage all: operational, manufacturing, engineering, sales, finance, HR and administrative aspects to ensure profitable and efficient performance.Develop and set key performance indicators (KPIs); drive teams to achieve both immediate goals and long term strategic objectives.Manage vendors and partners in a variety of cutting edge manufacturing processes such as Scientific Injection Molding, Vacuum Metallization, Coating, Sonic welding and SMT Assembly, etc.Oversee Lean Manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures.Manage all U.K. and Continental European sales strategy development, delivering profitable sales and market share gains.Determine headcount needs vs budget constraints, ensuring compliance with company policies.Be responsible for the strategic forecast and annual budgeting process and cost disciplines. To be a successful Managing Director you will have the following skills and experience: Experience in manufacturing processes, preferably in the OEM commercial vehicle, automotive, rail, aerospace or similar high precision industry; proven track record in lean manufacturing is a must.Experience of complex ERP/Manufacturing/Business systems and their development.Employee training and development.Technical skills in engineering, inventory management and operations.Experience gained within a tech/electronics manufacturing environment is highly advantageous.High level of understanding of and experience with ISO, Knowledgeable and well versed in standards of TS 16949.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated the ability to lead people and get results through others.Proven experience working with and developing high performance teams.Bachelor's degree in Engineering, business, or finance, or combination of work history and education; MBA or Master's Degree preferred.
