**Senior Visual Designer** **BT Consumer Digital, St Paul's, London** **Why this role matters** At BT Consumer Digital, Visual Designers weave iconography, typography, colour, space and texture together to help our users successfully navigate our products. We believe that all of our products should be beautiful and accessible. You will need to be based at our BT Centre, London office and as a Visual Designer, you’ll delight users with designs that inspire, engage and excite them. You’ll rely on user-centered design principles to produce great experiences that bring our UX outputs to life through high-quality visuals—from concept to execution—across many platforms. You will support and collaborate with your fellow Visual designers and UX designers to constantly refine the BT Consumer design language, online brand behaviours and create innovative, great-looking products that people love to use. Working with different teams you will create experience-oriented designs for new and existing customer facing products through online and mobile applications. You will be passionate about interaction design, information design and user centred experiences and you will collaborate daily with a diverse set of specialists from UX professionals, information architects, project managers, writers, developers and a variety of stakeholders to deliver these digital experiences. You will lead and mentor more junior team members to help them grow and develop their abilities within this discipline. **What you’ll be doing** + **Owning UI Visual Design** – Take ownership of one or more parts of the user interface visual design: Setting design rules and creating working guidelines where necessary. + **Creating visual designs** – Create the designs for one or more of BT Consumer’s products across sales and service. + **Making the UI and UX intuitive** – Present the user interface visually so information is easy to read, easy to understand and easy to find. + **Promoting our products** – Market and promote products and features so users understand what they're getting and what the benefits are. + **Keeping everything on-brand** – Create a look consistent with all of BT Consumer - while pleasing our users. + **Communicate effectively** – Communicate effectively in a cross-functional product development team and present ideas and designs effectively. + **Collaboration** – Experience working in collaboration with UX Designers, Front-end Developers and Product Owners + **Building knowledge across the team** – Participate in regular design reviews and other team-wide design efforts as well as help drive the understanding and importance of UI Visual Design across the organisation. + **Documenting progress** – Create and share documentation of UI progress, updates and findings within the team and across the organisation. + **Working across multiple projects** – Execute against multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, challenging environment and deliver strategically sound, conceptually-based, iconic experiences. + **Making strategic decisions across a number of core projects** – Confident supporting and challenging requirements, briefs and assumptions **We’ll also need to see these on your CV:** + **Completed degree** – BA/BSc degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI, CS, or a related field or equivalent practical experience. + **Designing online/mobile experiences** – Experience designing outstanding web-based products for a consumer-oriented website. + **An appreciation of UX design** – Understanding of how UI and UX coexist. + **Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management** – Comfortable managing expectation, challenging and presenting to stakeholders. + **Knowing the tools** – A good understanding of CSS and HTML; Expert in Adobe Creative Suite or any other relevant digital design tools. + **Concept development** – Excellent conceptualising skills and a keen eye for detail + **Managing your time** – Must be self-motivated to prioritise and manage workload and meet critical project milestones and deadlines. + **Solving problems** – Very good problem-solving skills. + **Working in teams** – Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build good working relationships. + **Technical understanding** – Familiarity with development software and development processes. + **Passionate about the field you work in** – Strong interest in the latest design, UX and technology trends. + **Taking people with you** – Proven ability to act as a leader in communicating conceptual ideas and design rationale, all within a user-centered design process, with the ability to sell a vision through compelling storytelling **Why choose us?** We brought our design teams in-house 2 years ago and haven't looked back since.
