If you are a technology specialist with experience and/or an interest in operational risk and seeking a new permanent role, then an opportunity exists in a leading financial services institution. With exposure to senior stakeholders, you will be involved in supporting the business with understanding and controlling business risks that impact technology developments. These can include transformation initiatives, cloud strategies and data centres/warehouses.


* The ideal candidate will have a good grasp of technology and/ or change risk and control, with experience in either a 1st line operational area such as IT Service Management, programme roles, security functions or broader experience of challenging technology controls across the IT lifecycle in a risk or audit capacity.


* ITIL or ISO 20000 Professional / Auditor
* Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
* IT experience in one or more of the following areas:

* IT “first line” role either as technician, delivery or management
* IT “2nd line” role – providing risk support, review and challenge to an IT functional area
* IT “3rd line” role – auditing an IT functional area
* Undergraduate Degree or equivalent

* The Institute of Risk Management qualifications

Core responsibilities:

* Building close working relationships; gaining credibility and providing an appropriate level of review and influence in business areas when these areas require different types of discussions and have different priorities.
* Managing a variety of risk management related tasks and activities with minimal support, meeting expectations on agreed deliverable and timescales.
* Continuously developing and maintaining technical knowledge and applying this in conjunction with business awareness in order to provide review and consultancy.
* Expressing risk management to facilitate understanding and decision making of both internal and external stakeholders when there are different levels of understanding.
* Establish sustainable relationships with key staff within the business.
* Build relationships with risk peers, Senior Managers and Executives across the organisation, to share and implement best practice, and create a common understanding of risk management.
* Support the risk manager and risk colleagues in reviewing, challenging and managing the ERMF.
* Manage and influence key stakeholders in order to manage risk exposure.
* Provide training and support to promote a clear and consistent understanding of risk management.
* Review and process, risk and control activities to determine effectiveness and report on weaknesses exposure.
* Provide consultative support to the relevant business area in managing risk and explore options for improving risk management within business processes.
* Analyse Risk MI to proactively identify gaps in risk management practice, in aligned business areas, and provide solutions to strengthen control process weaknesses
* Contribute to Risk Reporting
* Effectively implement and embed the ERMF in the businesses.
* An ability to constructively challenge and articulate independent opinions in a way that drives change and delivers results
