Building Maintenanced Engineer (Handyperson) - Doncaster

This is a permanent full time role working 40 hours per week, to report directly to the Supervisor with responsibility for engineering on a day to day basis including operation and maintenance, including development of the contract.

Duties Include:
• To safely operate and maintain all systems and associated equipment on site in line with current legislation
• To maintain a good working relationship with customer representatives and work in a manner, which ensures that all aspects of the service agreement between the client and the customer are delivered with the requisite levels of professionalism
• To carry out all PPM and repairs as necessary
• Complete the relevant paperwork and report diligently
• Responsible for all record keeping & control of sub-contractors as required.
• Ability to work in a customer focused environment where quality and image is very important
• Ensure any parts required are clearly identified, priced and accurately stated ready for purchasing
• Ensure that any difficulties encountered during working the day are reported to the Engineering Supervisor/Manager
• Ensure all record keeping functions are completed on a daily basis or as required.
• Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards of workmanship and safety.
• Understanding of company procedures
• Understanding of escalation procedures
• To be available for out of hours call out, weekend working depending on production and business requirements
• Understanding & able to complete Permits To Work as required
• All PPE and Uniform, Mobile Phone Basic and specialised tools will be supplied
• A flexible approach to working hours, areas is required to support service delivery and contract requirements
• This is a key and critical role within a small team responsible for maintaining the operational and commercial delivery criteria to the Customer
• Managing workloads will be critical to success as will the regular analysis of reactive breakdowns to ensure route causes are identified and eliminated to successfully achieve KPI’s
• Working to a high standard of Building Maintenance on site
• We require a fully reliable Fabric Engineer who can work on their own initiative or within a team environment
• Produce high quality reports of their findings along with estimates and sourcing of parts as required
• To assist in delivering those aspects of the Company Performance Contract as they relate to this site, including satisfying all the requirements of the
• Company and the contract with the Customer, in line with existing procedures, by:
• Fulfilling site health, safety and environmental, quality and customer service targets
• Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of existing plant and equipment and diagnosing faults as required
• Safely and efficiently maintaining (or supervising the maintenance by third party contractors of) existing plant and equipment
• Safely and efficiently installing (or supervising the installation by third party contractors of) new plant and equipment
• To attend site in response to breakdowns or failures of the equipment outside of normal working hours (on call) once it has been decided by the site Supervisor that site knowledge is sufficient
• To conform to Engie standards, rules and procedures
• To carry out scheduled maintenance tasks, repairs and operations of equipment and services in accordance with best practice

Required Experience:
• Apprenticeship, primary trade qualifications and substantial experience within a building services environment
• A recognised industry Mechanical/Civil qualification will be required and
• Previous experience is essential
• Woodworking/carpentry
• Civil work/general building skills
• Mechanical aptitude
• Good problem solving ability
• Strong customer care skills
• Communication skills
• IPAF 3a & 3b
• Health & Safety Awareness
• Proficient in use of IT software Word/Excel etc
• Knowledge of Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (Advantageous)
• Ability to effectively work under pressure
• Ability to diagnose faults and recommend appropriate solutions
• Ability to communicate at all levels both verbally and in writing
• Ability to operate in a very customer focused environment
