Class 2 FCAW and MMA - Essecntial - recent stick expereince required

•Undertake the structural alterations or build modules by following engineering drawings on naval surface ships and submarines.
•Competent to work within multi – trade teams to co – ordinate these structural alterations.
•Read drawings, interpret work instructions and perform the work to time, cost and quality.
•Ability to align, prepare the weld joint and then weld structural seam to a specified weld procedure. The thickness of the materials is typically 8mm-24mm.
•Ability to use basic gouge and edge preparation through grinding.
•Ability to use basic hand tools, guillotines, and band saws.
•Weld processes which are used on MMA, MIG Flux-core and occasionally TIG in mainly carbon steel and stainless.
• Cleaning up of own work arising.
•Slinging duties as required.
•Any other task within the individual’s competence as directed by the company.

Job Requirements:

You will be required to undertake weld tests to Lloyds registered standards to weld structural steel work, shell inserts and patching on Warships Long term contract (initial 6 month contract, rolling thereafter) 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday 0730 to 1545 and Friday 0730 to 1330 - potential additional hours You will test out for up to one week to Lloyds standards(you will of course be paid) . You will be required to do 4 pieces on each process on a 8 to 12 inch steel plate which consists of an overhead fillet, vertical fillet, vertical butt and overhead butt. Using Low hydrogen rods the whole route fill and cap is undertaken in a NEGATIVE Polarity
