Job Description:

Ensure company compliance with applicable government trade regulations and administer preferential duty and duty avoidance programs to leverage duty and tax savings opportunities for the organization, accomplished by participating in the development and implementation of appropriate compliance initiatives and by providing guidance and training to internal and external stakeholders. Assign HS and ECN Commodity Classification codes for Solar parts, software and technology necessary for import and export compliance purposes and in support of Free Trade Agreement qualifications.
Major functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
• Implement and maintain trade compliance improvement programs using 6 Sigma and other tools, as well as SOPs and guidelines to reduce costs, improve process velocity and mitigate compliance risk
• Maintain  duty avoidance programs
• Perform import/export tariff classifications (EU, CH, US, other)
• Validate HS classifications in INTRASTAT reports submitted in the EU
• Maintain Navision HS classification database
• Validate and maintain changes and updates to HS classifications
• Communicate with government authorities, customs brokers and freight forwarders
• Provide guidance and training on GTC processes and regulations
• Stay abreast of changing GTC regulations
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

• Knowledge of EU, U.S. and Swiss import and export regulations
• Strong understanding of HS classification methodology
• Strong understanding of General Rules  for the Interpretation of the Harmonized System
• Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret blueprints
• Strong analytical, IT and research skills
• Customs background preferred
• Four-year degree in Business Administration or equivalent education preferred
• Equivalent industry experience (3-5 years) will be considered in lieu of degree
• 1 to 3 years of direct experience with import/export HS classifications required
• Strong PC skills (MS Office, ERP systems, compliance software) are a plus
• Spoken & written English and Czech required, fluency in other languages is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, strong planning and organizational skills
• Ability to work well within a diverse & multicultural group environment
• Proactive and positive approach to problem solving
• Ability to work on a self-initiated basis as well as within a team
