NXP wants to grow the Business Unit Personal Health, headquartered in Leuven, to capture the strong market growth specifically in IC’s for use in Hearing Aids and Implants, Hearables, Wearables and Personal Health monitoring applications. Our team develops the full software development kits for our leading-edge IC products. Our System-on-Chip products employ the latest Bluetooth Smart (BLE) and other ultra-low power technologies. We develop the full SW stack from driver-level all to way to turnkey applications, which enables our customers to develop their final products with minimum effort. Owing to our success our team of 40 Engineers is growing and we have an opportunity for an experienced (m/f): 

System / Firmware Validation Lead

  • Definition of advanced system and module level validation strategies, plans, and reporting for the hearables product SDKs.
  • Lead the V&V team in developing the detailed test specifications starting from the product requirements as input.
  • Work with the development team to develop and guide the implementation of module, systems and end to end tests (functional + performance testing) to fit in the test framework.
  • Reporting of product validation status to the project core team.
  • Participate in SDK sign-off / release meetings.
  • Specification of extensions to the in-house automated regression test frameworks
  • Working closely with internal teams such as ASIC, driver, firmware and application development teams to drive resolution of firmware bugs.
  • Drive improved validation methodologies across the organization.

Your Profile
  • Masters in EE, CS or related disciplines with around 10 years of experience in real-time embedded software/firmware development (to include 3-5 years firmware / product verification and validation)
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and programming proficiency using C and/or assembly language.
  • Software test methodology training / proven work experience
  • Leadership capabilities to drive a small team (~5 engineers) and experience with Agile methodologies e.g. SCRUM
  • Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (Smart) and/or other wireless networking standards (WiFi, Zig BEE) over all layers is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Subversion, GIT and build system automation (Jenkins).
  • Familiarity with test management (e.g Testlink) and requirements management (e.g. DOORS)
  • Quality minded with an eye of improvements in way of working
  • Strong Python programming skills is a plus
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English
  • Experience in the IC development process is a plus
