By helping the ICLEI Network to become sustainable, low-carbon, resilient, ecomobile, biodiverse, smarter, resource-efficient and productive, healthy and happy, with a green economy, we impact over 25% of the world's urban population.

The EcoMobility Team in the ICLEI World Secretariat is searching for further support for the implementation of our current projects, such as  the EcoMobility Alliance and the bi-yearly EcoMobility World Festival and Congress  as well as to advance the EcoMobility working area in general and to strengthen our entire team.
                                                                                                       
We are therefore offering a position as

Officer, EcoMobility
 
The successful candidate will be a part of the international EcoMobility Team at the ICLEI World Secretariat based in Bonn, Germany. The position is attractive for (young) professionals interested in a dynamic working environment and who would like to be part of a growing team. The position will have both a thematic and administrative focus and hence a high interest in sustainable urban mobility is essential.

Tasks include:
In regards to implementation of projects
  • Ensuring proper and timely implementation of projects;
  • Managing independently the implementation of a project awarding cities of the Global South for good concepts in sustainable urban mobility;
  • Co-managing a major multi-year and multi-country project on EcoLogistics;
  • Keeping contacts to donors and partners;
  • Supporting the project related preparation of media releases and communication material, in coordination with the ICLEI communications team;
  • Supporting the management of the ICLEI’s EcoMobilty Alliance and related projects.
In regards to the support of the EcoMobility work of ICLEI as such by
  • Being part of the further development of the thematic area and its global coordination,
  • positioning ICLEI’s work and ensuring best value for ICLEI Members and other local governments;
  • Designing further projects in the area of sustainable urban mobility, proposal writing, fundraising and related tasks;
  • Supervising the production of thematic newsletters, fact sheets, and technical reports;
  • Representing ICLEI at international events and keeping contacts to partners; as well as representing the EcoMobility team in EcoMobility related events;
  • (Co)-organizing sessions at international events.

Job Requirements:

Main requirements:
  • Academic background: a completed degree in international development, public relations, public administration, urban mobility or urban planning; or similar;
  • Knowledge of sustainable transportation issues;
  • At least 3 years work experience in the thematic field and in an international environment;
  • Experience in managing work plans and organizing events;
  • High proficiency of English language (orally and in writing);
  • Proficient computer skills with basic Microsoft Office tools;
  • Motivation to work in a multicultural environment;
  • Proficiency in German language (orally and in writing).
Advantageous:
  •  Experience in researching, editing and layouting publications;
  • Experience with web content management;
    (preferably Typo 3, Wordpress);
  • Desire to learn new topics and suggest new areas of work within the ecomobility field.

The position is available for a duration from early 2018 to 31 December 2019 at the ICLEI World Secretariat in Bonn. An extension of the employment contract is desired but depends on performance and availability of projects.
  • The Officer, EcoMobility is placed within ICLEI’s EcoMobility team and reports to the EcoMobility Program Manager
  • ICLEI is offering an annual salary of 27.300 – 39.000 before tax and social insurance fees for the full time position. The final salary will be determined based on the chosen applicant’s skills and experience.
  • Workings hours: 40h per week
  • 30 days of paid leave per year
  • Working language: English
  • Due to legal requirements, applicants must be eligible to obtain an appropriate work permit for Germany prior to the start of the position.
