As a Backend Software Engineer, your responsibilities will notably include:
Shape the Foundation: Own and evolve the backend services that power payment experiences for millions of merchants and consumers worldwide.
Drive Technical Excellence: Influence architectural decisions and champion best practices around reliability, scalability, and security across the platform.
Collaborate Across Boundaries: Work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.
Elevate the Team: Share your expertise through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions, helping raise the bar for the entire engineering team.
You day-to-day:
You will focus on your learning while helping to deliver high quality solutions to our users.
Collaborate with the team to define, design, and ship new features.
You work closely with product to understand context and vision.
You will learn and work with your peers in the Backend chapter to make incremental platform improvements and increase learning opportunities for all in a supportive environment.
You can bring your desire to innovate during and hack weeks and lab days on a bimonthly basis.
What do you need to succeed:
Advanced proficiency in Java, with strong expertise in core concepts, design patterns, and optimization techniques.
Extensive hands-on experience with Java frameworks like Spring (Spring Boot, Spring MVC) and Hibernate, building scalable and maintainable solutions.
Proven experience in designing and implementing high-performance API services, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance in production environments.
Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, contributing to technical leadership through code reviews, design discussions, and mentoring less experienced engineers.
