Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in Android
  • Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
  • Ability to design applications around natural user interfaces, such as "touch? Familiarity with the use of additional sensors, such as gyroscopes and accelerometers Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
  • Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
  • A knack for benchmarking and optimisation
  • Understanding of Google's Android design principles and interface guidelines Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
  • Familiarity with continuous integration Roles and Responsibilities
  • Relevant experience in any Android mobile and web test automation tools/frameworks (i.e. Appium, Espresso, Selenium, Cucumber)
  • Relevant experience in developing test strategies, architecting test frameworks and testing tools to support automated testing
  • Use of de-bugging tools, ability to analyse stack traces, code, log-files and other artefacts
  • Understanding of version control systems.
  • Experience in using for example SVN.
  • Working knowledge of a CI system, ideally Jenkins.
  • Strong programming skills in Java (and A plus if experience in Android app development)
  • Proficient with Unix-like systems and command-line tools
  • Being able to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
  • Research, share, and recommend new technologies, best practices, and trends
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, reporting, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Translate designs and wireframes into high quality code
  • Design, build, and maintain high performance, reusable, and reliable Java code
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
  • Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs
  • Help maintain code quality, organisation, and automatisation
  • Work on bug fixing and improving application performance.
  • Developing solutions based on defined project requirements using Agile development methodologies
  • Research and recommend new mobile tools and applications.
  • Ability to translate concepts into User Interfaces on Android platform and build for scalability, internationalisation and performance
