Job Summary

This person supports faculty, subject matter experts, and others to create high quality learning experiences. This position is integral to ensure quality and effectiveness of online courses through application of learning theories and instructional design models. This person is expected to keep up with emergent instructional technologies and pedagogies for online learning and create resources and opportunities to support best practices.

Responsibilities and Duties

Essential Duties Summary

  • Facilitates discovery meetings and conducts interviews to confirm performance needs and translate those needs into concrete options for learning interventions. Work with faculty to define learning solution objectives to ensure the impact can be measured and is linked to course objectives.
  • Guides faculty in the design or redesign and development of course content, course assessments, instructional strategies and activities for courses offered in various delivery formats.
  • Assists with the management of instructional design projects including master course development and review cycles
  • Consults with faculty on the application of learning theories and instructional design models.
  • Supports faculty in the development of course guides, syllabi, instructional media assets, and learning materials that meet quality assurance standards in accordance with regional accreditation criteria and programmatic accreditation standards.
  • Helps faculty understand how the intellectual property of an e-learning course is developed as well as any copyright issues involved during the online course development process.
  • Assists with the evaluation of new, supporting, and complementary technologies for use or implementation with the learning management system.
  • Completes tasks in accordance with established procedures and deadlines.
  • Contributes to the effective operation of the academic team.
  • Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development conferences/courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the Academic Director.
  • Provides superior customer service to stakeholders.
  • Professionally represents Company to internal and external constituents, including students, prospective students, companies, organizations, faculty, and locations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Previous experience with online course development, instructional design & technology required.
  • Some experience as an instructional designer.
  • Experience in higher education preferred.
  • Teaching experience in the online environment preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills: To work effectively with students, prospective students, faculty, team members, staff and the general public through written and verbal communication. Recognizes the importance of service, quality and customer satisfaction in all facets of their work.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of handling multiple duties and tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and a problem solver: exercises independent judgment in completing daily work with the ability to research daily questions efficiently.
  • Positive attitude and ability to get along well with others in a team atmosphere.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Previous experience with online course development, instructional design & technology required.
  • Some experience as an instructional designer.
  • Experience in higher education preferred.
